The season came to end for the Gopher women’s basketball team in South Dakota Thursday night. The Gophers fell to South Dakota State 70-62 in the WNIT.
The Jacks beat up the Gophers on the glass. SDSU shot just 35 percent for the game, but grabbed 14 offensive rebounds on the night to give themselves extra opportunities.
The bright spot for the Gophers in an otherwise disappointing trip west was the play of Amanda Zahui. She had a double-double finishing with 26 points on 11 of 14 shooting. Zahui also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Rachel Banham didn’t have her best night, but she finished strong. Banham scored 25 points on 8 of 22 shooting, including knocking down six threes in the game.
The two combined for 51 of Minnesota’s 62 total points.
Banham and Zahui combined to score 51 of the @GophersWBB team's 62 points…
But its not enough and they fall to SD St. 70-62. #Gophers
