The Gopher Women got the brooms out for an overtime win against the rival Badgers, sweeping the season series against Wisconsin and ending their regular season on a strong win.
Big finish from Pannek
Sophmore forward Kelly Pannek had a great game, aiming a pass to freshman Sarah Potomak for the Gopher’s first score of the evening and closing the night out on a streaking breakaway goal during OT. After strong defensive takeaway, forward Cara Piazza shot an assist right in front of Pannek, who took it to the net with gusto after seeing Wisconsin’s Ann Renee Desbiens was all alone at the goal.

Levielle dominates the net
Senior goalie Amanda Levielle must have been feeling some momentum after coming off of last night’s 35 save shutout against the Badgers–she made another 31 saves tonight, almost 10 more than Wisconsin’s Desbiens.
Power play swings in Minnesota’s favor
The Gophers killed both of Wisconsin’s advantage opportunities and managed to capitalize on one of their own–Potomak’s first period goal came courtesy of a scrambling, shorthanded Badger defense.
