The Gopher women’s hockey team came from behind to beat the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers 2-1 in overtime Saturday afternoon at LaBahn Arena in Madison, and complete a two-game sweep of their series, according to Gophersports.com.
Wisconsin led the game 1-0 for most of regulation. But senior captains Rachel Ramsey and Rachael Bona both scored late goals for Minnesota to get the win. Bona tied the game with 1:28 left in regulation, and Ramsey scored the game winner with 1 minute left in OT – her first goal of the year.

Head coach Brad Frost called the win “incredible,” according to Gophersports. “Coming back to win on the road against a really good team like Wisconsin was pretty special.”
Junior goaltender Amanda Leveille made a career-high 40 saves as Wisconsin had more shots on goal for the game, 41, compared to 35 for Minnesota. Goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens made 33 saves for the Badgers.

Minnesota (5-0-1, 3-0-1-0 WCHA) went into the weekend series ranked No. 2 in the country behind the Badgers (6-2-0, 4-2-0-0 WCHA). They defeated Wisconsin 4-1 in the first of the two-game series Friday night.
The Gophers will host North Dakota (4-2-0, 3-1-0-0 WCHA) at Ridder Arena Friday and Saturday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.
