The No. 2 ranked Golden Gopher women earned their third straight WCHA conference title with a 2-0 win over No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena.
It was the women’s ninth conference title, according to GopherSports.com.
The win gave the Gophers a series sweep, after they beat the Bulldogs 7-1 Friday night.
Saturday’s game was close for the first two periods, when neither team scored. But Minnesota got goals from Dani Cameranesi and Lee Stecklein in the third period, and held UMD to just two shots on goal in the frame, to get the win.
Gopher goaltender Amanda Leveille made 19 saves in her sixth shutout of the season.
“I thought in the third period, we came out with a little extra jump and fire,” head coach Brad Frost said, according to GopherSports. “We were able to get the lead and just lock it down the rest of the way.”

The Bulldogs are now 17-10-5, and 12-10-4-2 in the WCHA.
The Gophers wrap up their regular season on the road against Bemidji State next weekend.
