Minnesota Gophers wideout Andre McDonald will not return to the team this semester, head coach Jerry Kill said on Tuesday.
McDonald was taken off the preseason roster after an unspecified violation of team rules, and Kill’s promise of an update once school started came back negatively for the talented sophomore out of Hopkins.
McDonald was also suspended for the Gophers appearance in the Meineke Car Care Bowl his freshman season of 2012 after another violation of team rules.
The Gophers threw for only 99 yards in their season opener, and no receiver had more than 30 yards through the air.
