The Gophers women’s hockey team win over Minnesota State-Mankato Saturday night came with an extra special bonus: a tie for the sport’s longest unbeaten streak in NCAA history.
According to the Star Tribune, the Gophers’ 6-0 win over the Mavericks tied them with Wisconsin for the longest unbeaten streak, which is 32 games.
Wisconsin has set that record twice.
The Gophers record this season is 24-0-0, and 18-0-0 in the WHCA.
Gopher junior Amanda Kessel also scored point No. 200 Saturday, becoming the 24th player in NCAA women’s hockey history to do so.
The Gophers will try to set a new NCAA record and extend their unbeaten streak to 33 games at Wisconsin Friday.
