The Gophers have a win against a ranked opponent under Jerry Kill.
After going 0-7 in matchups with Top 25 teams under the former Northern Illinois headman, Kill looked on from the press box as his Gophers pounded the rock right at No. 24 Nebraska to the tune of 271 yards on the ground.
The players and coaches would credit Kill’s presence as one of the factors in the upset.
The win is their first over the ‘Huskers in 53 years, and some Gopher experts rank it with the best victory ever for the program.
Its sparked hope for acting head coach Tracy Claeys that the Gophers could contend for a Big Ten title, with the caveat being that Minnesota can’t lose another game.
Whatever this win means to you, any Gopher supporter will appreciate the significance of a win big enough for fans and students to rush the field (below). You can find all your Gopher video here.
