If you’re attending Gopher football games this fall, plan ahead because the U of M has updated its security and bag policies for those visiting TCF Bank Stadium.
The biggest change fans will notice is the use of hand-held metal detectors that will screen everyone who enters the stadium.
The staff has used hand-held metal detectors for Vikings games, concerts and special events, such as last February’s NHL Stadium Series game.
Fans with Gopher football tickets are encouraged to use all gates when entering the stadium which will help keep things moving. There’s also an express lane for fans who are not bringing a bag with them.
Those who do bring a bag should be aware of what sizes are (and are not) allowed.

Fans can enter with clear tote bags up to 12 inches by 6 inches or one-gallon re-sealable plastic bags. You can also purchase a Gophers clear bag from Goldy’s Locker Room which is located outside of Gate E.
If you plan to bring a purse inside, it must be no bigger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
Here’s an image from GopherSports.com showing what purses are and are not allowed inside the stadium. The bag-check begins 2.5 hours prior to kickoff.
