As if things weren’t rough enough for the Minnesota Wild as they were headed into the All-Star break, it seems even a brief golf vacation had a few moments of drama for a small group of Wild players.
Nino Niederreiter, Marco Scandella, Matt Dumba and Darcy Kuemper spent their break in Cancun, Mexico, for a relaxing golf vacation.
Only, while playing a round one day the foursome of Wild players ran across something truly wild – an alligator on the golf course.
According to PGA.com, the course had signs posted that day warning of gators, but that didn’t stop the Minnesota Wild. Then when they ran across one, while most of us would probably head the other direction – not those guys.
Instead, they snuck within a few feet for a quick pic.
“It was probably three or four feet way with his mouth open the whole time looking at us,” Niederreiter told the Star Tribune’s Michael Russo. “So we took a quick pic and got out of there.”
Everyone escaped with their toes, fingers, arms and legs attached and made it safely back to the team for Tuesday night’s game in New York.
Now the Wild hope they can escape this losing streak and turn things around before it’s too late to make the Western Conference playoffs.
