Eleven consecutive years without a trip to the postseason will leave most Timberwolves fans weary and hopeless, but the arrival of Andrew Wiggins in 2014 and the potential of Karl-Anthony Towns in 2015 has NBA general managers thinking something special is happening in Minnesota.
According survey conducted by the league, Wiggins is favored among general managers to have a breakout season in 2015-16. Wiggins led the way with 17.2 percent of the vote, nearly four percent more than Milwaukee youngster Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Shabazz Muhammad of the Wolves also received votes in the breakout player of the year category.
Jahlil Okafor, the third pick in draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, was voted as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. Okafor garnered 44.8 percent of that vote while Wolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns, the No. 1 pick in the draft, came in second with 34.5 percent of the vote.
Towns, though, is heavilly favored above Okafor to be the best rookie five years from now. Towns got 62.1 percent of that vote.
Zach LaVine was picked as the third-most athletic player in the league, trailing only LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.
