The Minnesota Twins have had a disappointing start to their season winning just 8 out of 33 games through mid-May.
Three-time all star and Stillwater native Glen Perkins has appeared in just two game because of a shoulder strain that landed him on the disabled list. Perkins has begun throwing, the Twins said, and is planning a bullpen session for May 23.
The Twins said there’s no official return date, but if the bullpen session goes well, he could get a rehab stint before rejoining the Twins in early or mid-June.
Minnesota’s bullpen has struggled all season – they’re second-worst in the American League when it comes to ERA (4.34), with only the Texas Rangers below them.
The Twins have also recorded just 2 saves this season, which ranks dead last in MLB (though it is hard to earn a lot of saves if you only have 8 wins total).
