Potentially good news could be developing for the Minnesota Vikings.
Running backs Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart participated in the non-contact, no pads portion of practice the media was allowed to watch on Friday, according to the Star Tribune. Afterward, head coach Leslie Frazier said there’s a chance Peterson will play on Sunday.
Peterson suffered a mid-foot sprain and Gerhart tweaked his hamstring in Minnesota’s 29-26 loss at Baltimore last Sunday.
“There comes a point where you just gotta suck some of the pain up,” Peterson said on Friday, via Vikings.com.

Wow, Adrian practiced a bit today and actually might play Sunday. I'll believe it when I see it but amazing it's even an option. #MVPWarrior

The goal all week was to get Peterson and Gerhart back on the practice field Friday, with hopes that one or both will be able to play Sunday when the Vikings host the Eagles at Mall of America Field.
Gerhart on seeing Peterson practice today: “He’s Superman. As long as there’s not an kryptonite I think he’ll be alright."

Reports all week have emphasized that there was a better chance that Peterson wouldn’t be able to play.
Head coach Leslie Frazier said on Wednesday that if Peterson is capable of playing, he will play. Many armchair quarterbacks believe the Vikings shouldn’t regardless if he’s healthy, citing the opinion that playing Peterson in meaningless games isn’t worth the risk of another injury.
The Vikings cannot make the playoffs.
