It sounds like Twins center fielder Aaron Hicks got an earful from his manager after last night’s 3-0 loss to Kansas City.
In the seventh inning, Hicks hit a pop fly that Royals’ outfielder Lorenzo Cain botched.
Gardenhire was irked when Hicks jogged into second when he might have gone to third on the error.
“It takes no talent whatsoever to hustle,” Gardenhire told reporters in his postgame news conference. “I can’t live with that.”
Hicks, meanwhile, is mired in a miserable 2-for-35 slump, and is hitting just .057 as Minnesota’s leadoff hitter — which ranks him dead last in the American League for everyday players.
Hicks tells the Pioneer Press the only way he knows to battle out of it is to “keep coming every day ready to play.”
