Another Gopher men’s basketball player has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
Gabe Kalscheur, the to-be senior shooting guard, is the sixth player from Minnesota’s 2020-21 roster to enter the transfer portal, joining Marcus Carr, Jamal Mashburn Jr., Tre Williams, Sam Freeman and Martice Mitchell. Sources confirmed the news to multiple reporters, including ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

Kalscheur enters the portal a week after Ben Johnson was named the new head coach of the Gophers, replacing Richard Pitino, who one day after he was dismissed as the U’s coach was named the head coach at the University of New Mexico.
Kalscheur and Johnson were graduates of DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis.
The Star Tribune’s Marcus Fuller reports that Kalscheur isn’t closing the door on returning to the Gophers, though Carr and Mashburn are likely headed elsewhere.
