If the season started today the Timberwolves would pretty much have to play Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins every minute of every game because they have no wing depth behind them.
The only realistic backup option on the roster is Nemanja Bjelia, a power forward who could probably play some small forward if needed. Ideally, however, the Wolves will find shooting guard and small forward help in free agency or via a trade.
One possibility appears to be Indiana Pacers small forward C.J. Miles, whom KSTP’s Darren Wolfson says the Wolves could work out a sign-and-trade with Indiana for Miles. Per Wolfson’s report, the Wolves would have to trade a 2018 first-round pick (from Oklahoma City) and Cole Aldrich to get him.
By trading Aldrich, Minnesota would give itself just over $12 million in cap space, which would likely be in the ballpark of what Miles would command in a multi-year deal.

Miles is a 3-and-D player who shot 41.3 % from deep last season. His career 3-point percentage is a bit lower at 36.1%.
Minnesota was linked to shooting guard Nick Young but he’s signed with the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN.
