The Greg Jennings/Aaron Rodgers volley may have finally been picked off by an old defensive back, namely Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier, who apparently had a word or two with the person who currently plays for him.
That’s the big news out of Mankato Saturday – aka Training Camp: Day 2 – where players managed to practice in between running their mouths at each other through the media.
“Hopefully, there will not be any more reporting regarding that from Greg Jennings,” Frazier said after Saturday’s afternoon practice, according to Fox Sports North. “We did have a little bit of a conversation about that. Hopefully we’re moving on past that.”
Rodgers and Jennings are both acting like lovers scorned, refusing to mention each other by name and all that kind of junior-high stuff. Lately Jennings revealed that a top NFL quarterback has an ego, and, maybe, perhaps, so too does the star wide receiver.
“We’re the Vikings and we want to talk about us, what we’re trying to get done,” Frazier said, according to the PiPress. “He’s good with that.”
We bet he is, coach. We bet he is.
Meanwhile, new LB Desmond Bishop is “like a kid in a candy store,” according to Yahoo Sports, which has this insight from Bishop: ”Football is football.”
(Here’s a thought designed to upset everyone: Should the Vikings be rechristened Green Bay West?)
Anyway, the Star Tribune has what is an insightful Q&A with offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. Most important weapon? AP? Ponder? Jennings? Sayeth the coach: Phil Loadholt.
Speaking of Musgrave, the Vikes have posted video of his media session Saturday here.
Meanwhile, the special teams coach says rookie Cordarrelle Patterson is his top choice for kick returner.
Just for the heck of it, here’s a couple more interviews with Bishop.
Finally, speaking of lovers – though most definitely not scorned – Samantha Ponder took in the practice from the sidelines today, apparently mixing business with pleasure.
