The Vikings ran a series of tests on quarterback Christian Ponder’s dislocated shoulder and nothing out of the norm showed up, coach Leslie Frazier announced Friday.
Ponder finished 17 of 21 for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Redskins. He dislocated his left shoulder trying to dive into the end zone for a touchdown in the second half of Minnesota’s 34-27 win last night. He collided with DeAngelo Hall, and the momentum forced Ponder to hit the ground with most of the pressure forcing his shoulder into the turf.

“We’ll learn more about his status in the days to come,” Frazier said, via ProFootballTalk. “We’ll see how things go forward with his shoulder. The good news is… the fact that it’s his non-throwing shoulder, which is a plus for us.”
Frazier hasn’t decided which quarterback — Matt Cassel or Josh Freeman — will start if Ponder isn’t healthy enough to start next week at Seattle. If Ponder is healthy, he’ll remain the starter.
“It’s a matter of how fast he heals,” said Frazier of Ponder’s chance to start.
In an interview with KFAN radio today, center John Sullivan credited Ponder’s improved play to the benching Ponder received a month ago.
