Toby Gerhart has a better chance to play Sunday against the Eagles than Adrian Peterson, according to Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier.
Frazier said both players won’t practice until Friday at the earliest.
Peterson, as KFAN reported on Tuesday, is out of a walking boot, but his mid-foot sprain still has his status in serious question. Gerhart is day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Both were banged up in last week’s game at Baltimore.

If neither can play the Vikings would likely turn to third string running back Matt Asiata as the starter. The Vikings also signed running back Bradley Randle to the practice squad Wednesday. That move looks like an insurance policy in case Peterson and Gerhart can’t play.
The Star Tribune reported that cornerback Xavier Rhodes (ankle) and offensive guard Brandon Fusco (knee) are day-to-day. Tight end John Carlson hasn’t passed the NFL’s concussion protocol, so he remains out until he does.
One other injury note is that safety Harrison Smith will play this week if he practices well and doesn’t suffer a setback with his turf toe. He’s been out since week six.
