A change of scenery is certainly working out for ex-Twin Francisco Liriano.
The left-hander is now 3-0 for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. Yesterday he gave up two hits and struck out nine in seven scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs.
“Man, that’s clean stuff,” Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle told the Associated Press.
Liriano’s ERA is also at 1.00, and many say he’s looking “like the ace so many expected him to become after his dynamite rookie campaign in 2006.”
Liriano got a late start to the season due to a broken right (non-throwing) arm. He joined the Pirate rotation earlier this month.
