Former Viking quarterback Mcleod Bethel-Thompson has been released by the San Francisco 49ers, who claimed him when the Purple cut him to make room for Josh Freeman in October.
The move is to make room for Michael Crabtree, who was activated today.
Crabtree was San Fran’s top receiver last year, posting over 1,100 yards, but missed the first 11 games this season recovering from a torn Achilles’ tendon.
Bethel-Thompson has never taken a snap in the NFL, but grew to be a folk legend when with the Vikings, likely because of poor quarterback play ahead of him.
He also holds the distinction of being the only NFL player to be on a roster for two London games in the same season.
