Josh Freeman has been released by a third different team within a calendar year.
The New York Giants have announced they have released the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Vikings quarterback.

According to SB Nation, the Giants released Freeman among a series of roster moves ahead of the weekend after he failed to unseat any of the Giants quarterbacks, Eli Manning, Ryan Nassib and Curtis Painter.
The Giants signed Freeman on Apr. 21 after the Vikings chose to let him go to free agency, rather than offer him a contract extension.
Freeman’s fall from grace has been meteoric.

He was drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round of the 2009 draft and looked to have a promising future ahead of him, but struggled at the end of the 2012 season for the Buccaneers and those struggles continued at the start of 2013, as the team started 0-3.
After not finding a trade partner for Freeman the Buccaneers cut him and the Vikings claimed him on waivers. Freeman started one game for the Vikings, it was against the Giants, where he set an NFL record by throwing 33 incompletions and suffering a concussion.
He never did return to the field for Minnesota.
The Viking Age says it isn’t good news for Freeman’s future in the NFL. After reports of his work ethic and attitude in Tampa Bay along with his dismal performance in Minnesota, it might be the last straw for the former “franchise” quarterback of the Buccaneers.
At 26, Freeman has 63 career NFL starts. He is 24-36 in those starts and has thrown 80 touchdowns and 67 interceptions in five seasons.
