Former Minnesota Vikings and current Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm in two places early Tuesday morning in a one-car crash, and will require surgery tomorrow to repair the injury.
Burleson was watching Monday Night Football, and while driving home in his GMC Yukon on Highway 696, reached into his back seat to save a “whole pizza” from falling onto the floor of the vehicle, and in doing so over-adjusted the wheel, slamming into a median wall.
Coach Jim Schwartz said Burleson will not be placed on injured reserve, and that the Lions expect him back at some point this season.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
