Former first-round draft pick Michael Bennett was sentenced by a federal judge to 15 months behind bars for a fraud scheme in Florida, the Associated Press reports.
Bennett pleaded guilty to wire fraud after after he allegedly brought bogus tax refunds to an undercover check cashing store run by the FBI.
The ex-Viking along with two former players and five others are accused of cashing about $500,000 in fraudulent checks.
The Minnesota Vikings selected Bennett in the first round of 2001 draft. SB Nation’s Daily Norseman calls the former running back one of the Vikings worst draft picks.
