Ben Revere struggled in his first month in the national league, ending April hitting just .200 in his new digs of Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia.
Revere got hot, and seperate hit streaks of 12 and 10 games (active) pushed him over 100 points north, hitting .305 for the Phillies going into the All-Star break.
His momentum will undoubtedly be brought to a stop with the news today that he will have surgery on his broken right foot, an injury sustained on a foul ball Saturday night.
Revere will miss six to eight weeks, putting his timetable right around the beginning of September at the earliest. The .500 Phillies are 5.5 games out of the wild card lead, and will need a surge in the second half to contend for October’s playoffs. Should they stay around .500, Revere could be shut down for the rest of the season.
