Prospects have been coveted by the Minnesota Twins for a long time.
Former first-round pick Matt Garza was one of those the Twins thought highly of after they took him 25th overall in 2005, but ended up being one on the short list of potential stars the Twins got rid of.
Garza was the focal point of the trade that put Delmon Young in a Twins uniform, and today he is at the epicenter of what the Texas Rangers hope will be a playoff-clinching acquisition.

Garza’s two years with Minnesota were forgettable considering all the pomp and circumstance surrounding the top pitching prospect. His career has never quite lived up to the hype, but when he’s been healthy this season, he has been as impressive as he’s ever been. His last six starts in particular are something to behold, recording the win in five of them and posting a 1.03 ERA.
