The Minnesota Twins came back from a two-run deficit on Tuesday afternoon but former prospect Akil Baddoo hit a walk-off single as the Detroit Tigers picked up a 4-3 victory in 10 innings.
The Twins were sluggish to begin the game but got on the board first with a Willians Astudillo single in the fourth inning. The early advantage didn’t last long as Robbie Grossman delivered an RBI double off J.A. Happ to tie the game at 1-1.
Rocco Baldelli went to his bullpen early after Happ allowed one run over four innings and the Tigers took advantage in the bottom of the fifth. Jeimer Candelario gave Detroit the lead with an RBI double and Grossman made it a 3-1 lead with an RBI single.
Facing their first deficit of the season, the Twins chipped into the lead with Nelson Cruz’s third home run of the year in the top of the seventh.

That set the stage for the return of Byron Buxton. The Twins outfielder had been out since Sunday with an illness but entered the game in the fifth inning and crushed a 451-foot home run in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 3-3.

The game went to extra innings where Jorge Polanco was at the plate as the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th. That allowed Baddoo, who was the Twins second-round pick in the 2016 MLB entry draft to lead the Tigers to victory with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th.
The Twins (3-2) will wrap up their three-game series with the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
