The Minnesota Wild finalized its roster for the regular season Tuesday, with the most prevalent moves involving ex-Gophers defenseman Mike Reilly and former Minnesota-Duluth forward Justin Fontaine.
Fontaine, who is battling an upper-body injury, was placed on injured reserve to begin the season. Chad Graff from the Pioneer Press tweets that Fontaine has an injury to his oblique but he could be back in time for the Wild’s second or third game of the season.
Reilly was assigned to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League. Michael Russo of the Star Tribune writes that Reilly nearly made the team, but instead of stashing him deep on the NHL roster the Wild decided to send him to Iowa where he’ll get to play.

Jordan Schroeder was waived and Grayson Downing was designated as an injured non-roster player. Schroeder, if he clears waivers, can either rejoin the Wild or be sent to Iowa to play with Reilly and the team’s minor league affiliate.
