The Minnesota Wild gained ground in the West Division on Monday night as they picked up a 2-0 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Wild drew first blood against the Golden Knights as Kevin Fiala sniped his eighth goal of the season. The goal was critical as both teams settled into a defensive slugfest.

Kaapo Kahkonen and Marc-Andre Fleury took over the game from that point holding both teams off the scoreboard. Kahkonen was especially brilliant, recording 26 saves on the night.
With scoring at a premium, the Knights pulled Fleury with two minutes remaining. As Vegas pushed for the game-winning goal, Joel Eriksson Ek stole the puck and fed Jonas Brodin, who was awarded the goal on a hooking penalty to give Minnesota a 2-0 victory.
The Wild improved to 14-8-1 on the season with the victory look to gain more ground when they host the Golden Knights on Wednesday.
