Brett Favre isn’t making a comeback. The 44-year-old grandpa told Sports Talk 570 today that he’s flattered people want to him play again, but it’s not happening.
“I don’t know who, but I think a couple teams have inquired,” Favre said. “It’s flattering, but there’s no way I’m gonna do that.”
Favre’s last season in the NFL was with the Vikings in 2010.
“I had a great career,” Favre said. “I think if anything, the last year I played was an obvious writing on the wall vision if you will, that it was time.”
ESPN reported last night that one of the teams to reach out to Favre was the St. Louis Rams, who lost their starter Sam Bradford to a torn ACL.
Vikings defensive end Jared Allen said he saw Favre over the summer and admitted that Favre looked like he could probably “sling a few.”
“If he comes back, I’m going to fly down there and tell him to stay retired,” Allen said, via Star Tribune. “Brett, if you’re listening, stay retired, man. He can’t come back again.”
