It’s not your traditional wedding photo. Indeed, the bride is decked out in a beautiful ball gown, and the groom is in a tux (albeit sans jacket).
But what makes it so special is the big, juicy cheeseburger in the bride’s hand. Oh, and the fact that they’re sitting in the stands watching a Minnesota Wild game – on their wedding day.
Newlyweds Erica Skuta and Lewis Blake, who are big Wild fans, capped off their big day last Saturday night by enjoying a hockey game at the Xcel Energy Center.
The bride’s parents reserved a box for the wedding party and family members to attend the game after the wedding ceremony and afternoon reception, according to the Huffington Post.
FOX Sports North’s television cameras at one point showed Skuta enjoying a burger – while wearing her wedding gown – and the video clip has gone viral, with stories posted by Buzzfeed, Yahoo Sports, ABC News and ESPN, to name a few.

Also noted by observers was the groom’s gallant effort to wipe off some burger juice from his wife’s face before it dripped onto her dress.
At one point the couple was shown on the Jumbotron at the arena and the crowd stood up and cheered for them, the groom told the Huffington Post.
“We also had lots of other friends and family who were at the game, texting us and telling us that they could see Erica’s dress across the arena,” Blake said.
Congrats @eskuta12 & @LewisBlake1993! Our wedding gift to you: next time you're at @XcelEnergyCtr burgers are on us! https://t.co/Uoi08qYGvf

All the social media attention they’ve received in the past few days has been a little overwhelming, Skuta told the Star Tribune. But for the most part, she said the comments have been very positive.
“We never expected this to happen,” Blake told the Huffington Post. “All we wanted was to get on the Jumbotron. We just never thought eating a burger in a wedding dress would go viral.”
Unfortunately, the Wild didn’t bring the gift of a victory to the happy couple; they lost 4-3 in OT to the Dallas Stars.
Skuta is originally from Oakdale, but the two live in Blake’s hometown of Auckland, New Zealand. They’ll be returning there after they take a honeymoon trip along the North Shore.
And they’ll have a good story to tell their grandchildren someday.
