Former Wild defenseman Justin Falk has signed a one-year, $925,000 deal with the New York Rangers.
The Wild, looking to trim salary to get some flexibility under the cap, traded Falk’s restricted free agent rights to the Rangers for Benn Ferreiro and a sixth-round pick just short of the NHL Draft two Sundays ago.
Falk saw his time decrease with the acquisition of Ryan Suter last offseason and the emergence of All-Rookie team honoree Jonas Brodin.
Falk becomes the third member of the 2012-13 Wild to head to The Big Apple. Cal Clutterbuck and Pierre Marc-Bouchard signed with the Islanders within the past week.
