Former Timberwolves player Mike Miller is considering filing a lawsuit against the Miami Heat, according to the Miami Herald.
Miller believes the Heat organization owns some of the responsibility for allowing him to lose $1.7 million in a scam. Miller filed a complaint saying a Heat employee introduced him to con man Haider Zafar, who used $700,000 of Miller’s money to buy courtside tickets to Heat games.
Per the report, Miller asked the Heat to pay back the $700,000. Repayment hasn’t happened, and negotiations have stalled. If Miller goes ahead with the lawsuit, he’ll be seeking the full $1.7 million lost.
Miller isn’t the only member of the Heat to get scammed by Zafar. NBC Sports has the details.
Miller’s career ended this summer when Miami used its amnesty clause to wipe out his contract.
Miller played for the Wolves during the 2008-09 season where he averaged 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists a game.
According to Basketball Reference, Miller made just under $75 million during his 14-year NBA career.
