It looks like former Vikings quarterback Tavaris Jackson may have caught a break.
According to TMZ Sports, Jackson won’t be prosecuted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he was accused of pointing a loaded gun at his wife.
Jackson, 33, was drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft out of Alabama State. He started at quarterback for Minnesota in 2007 and part of 2008 and remained with the team for five seasons.
Jackson signed with Seattle in 2011 and has spent the last four seasons as Russell Wilson’s backup.

TMZ notes that new documents filed in Florida say there was not enough evidence for a conviction if the case moved forward. The Star Tribune notes that Jackson told authorities that his wife threatened him with a knife during the argument.
The altercation occurred at Jackson’s vacation home in Kissimmee, Florida, during which reports indicate that he pointed a handgun at her and said: “I’ll kill you.”
According to media accounts of the incident, Jackson’s wife then taunted him by saying: “You better be accurate because you ain’t accurate on the field.”
Jackson is currently a free agent. 247 Sports notes that a few teams need a quality backup quarterback, including the Dallas Cowboys, who lost Kellen Moore to a broken leg this week.
