As the Minnesota Vikings look for pass rushers this offseason, a reunion with Everson Griffen has been mentioned as a possibility. This weekend, Griffen likely didn’t help his cause to make that happen as he slammed Kirk Cousins on Twitter.
In a series of posts on Saturday, Griffen tweeted several negative comments towards Cousins. The tweets, which tagged the Vikings, included “Kirk Cousins is ass” and a suggestion that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer didn’t want to sign Cousins when he joined the team prior to the 2018 season.
Griffen later deleted the tweets and apologized for his comments.

The tweets about Cousins capped off what’s been an interesting week for Griffen. The 33-year-old has been retweeting and mentioning social media posts that have suggested the defensive end that ranks fourth in franchise history in sacks since 1982 should return to Minnesota.
Griffen also posted a series of posts on his Instagram driving around TCO Performance Center, which added to the speculation the two sides could be heading toward a reunion.

The Vikings could use Griffen’s presence on the defensive line as his five sacks would have tied for the team lead in 2020 and that was held by Yannick Ngakoue, who played just six games for the team.
With the Vikings embarking on what should be an eventful offseason, the potential reunion with Griffen will be an interesting storyline.
