After almost a month of silence after mysteriously leaving the Vikings during training camp, Christian Ballard offered up his reason for walking away.
“I wasn’t really having a good time playing football,” Ballard told USA Today. “It wasn’t fun for me. It wasn’t a blast for me. Making that much money — that was fun. But money is still a material thing. You can always make money. You can’t make that time that you lose with your friends and your loved ones. Time is something that you can never get back.”

Ballard left the team on August 18 and he remained silent until Tuesday’s interview was published.
According to the report, Ballard isn’t sure if he’s done playing football forever, but for now his career is over.
