A Twin known for his stellar defense at first base is returning to the club to take on a managerial role.
Doug Mientkiewicz (pronounced Mint-kay’-vich in case you forgot) is the new manager of the Ft. Myers Miracle, a Twins farm club in Florida.
Mientkiewicz, who played for Minnesota from 1998-2004, says he’s “always considered” himself a Twin.
After his days in the Metrodome, Mientkiewwicz, 38, played for six other major league teams, including the Boston Red Sox where he was part of the 2004 World Series championship club.
