Looking for a football team to cheer for (other than the Packers) in the NFL playoffs?
The Denver Broncos might deserve your attention, especially since former Minnesota Gopher receiver Eric Decker is now a favorite target of Peyton Manning.
Decker, who finished second in the NFL with 13 touchdown receptions, tells ESPN, “It’s nice to have No. 18 in town.”
This weekend Denver faces Baltimore, with the winner headed to the AFC Championship Game. The last time Decker faced the Ravens, he had one of the biggest days of his career, with eight catches and a touchdown in the Broncos’ 34-17 win.
Decker hopes to have another big day, as well, with his best friend, Broncos’ receiver DeMaryius Thomas. Both caught passes for 1,000 yards this year — the youngest teammates in NFL history to break the century mark and score 10 touchdowns in the same season.
As noted in a great ESPN article by Rick Reilly, the pair likes to call themselves “Black and Decker” — which some are already calling one of the greatest nicknames — ever.
One of the greatest catches ever? One could argue it was Decker’s one-handed grab for a touchdown against Kansas City in Week 17. Take a look, via NFL.com, RIGHT HERE.
