Finally. An article and opinion about Adrian Peterson that has nothing to do with the MVP of the NFL rushing for 2,500 yards.
This one, from Grantland.com’s Bill Barnwell, is all about Peterson carrying the Vikings like he did last season.
Can he?
Barnwell says it’s unlikely. Take a look at the chart below. It shows previous 2,000 yard rushers and what they did the following season.
In every previous case of a 2,000 yard rusher, the player’s carries dropped significantly the following season.
Peterson rushed for 2,097 yards on 348 carries last season.
Take it for what you will, or go with the thought that Peterson is superhuman and what other humans have done before him doesn’t matter.
