Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns were two men on a mission Thursday night in Phoenix as they combined to score 83 points in Minnesota’s 123-119 win over the Suns.
Edwards’ 42 points is a Wolves rookie record. His 105 points in his past three games makes him the first rookie in NBA history with 100 points in the span of three games, according to ESPN.
He’s also the third youngest player in NBA history to have a 30-point game, doing so at 19 years and 225 days old. Kevin Durant did it at 19 years and 200 days ,and LeBron James accomplished the feat when he was 19 years and 88 days old.
Another incredible stat: Edwards and Towns are just the fifth duo to both score 40 points in the same game since 2010, according to Statmuse. Durant and Russell Westbrook did it three times; Towns and Andrew Wiggins did it once; as did Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and George and Westbrook.
“I put in the work. I work in the dark, it should come to the light,” Edwards said after the game, according to Jon Krawczynski.
Anthony Edwards has the skillset to be a future superstar in the NBA.
