Eduardo Escobar’s MLB-leading 31st and 32nd doubles of the season led the Twins to a 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox at Target Field Tuesady night.
Batting right-handed against Chris Sale, Escobar reached down and ripped a double down the left-field-line in the sixth inning to put the Twins on top 2-1, and then he did it again in the eighth as a left-handed hitter, driving in a two more with a line drive to the gap in left-center.
Escobar has been on fire with six doubles in his last three games, and his 32 on the season are far and away the most in the majors, putting him on pace for an insane 75 doubles. The MLB record is 67, set way back in the 1930s.

The Twins’ record for doubles in an entire season is 47 by Justin Morneau, and Escobar could very well break that record in July.
Meanwhile, Jose Berrios allowed just one run in 6 1/3 innings to keep the Twins in the game against the powerful Red Sox. Berrios didn’t factor in the decision but he did lower his ERA to 3.38 on the season.
