Eddie Rosario’s exit from the Minnesota Twins was already confirmed, but it was announced Friday he’ll be staying in the AL Central.
Athletic reporter Ken Rosenthal confirmed Friday evening that the free agent outfielder is signing a deal with the Cleveland Indians.
Rosario is expected to sign a one-year contract for $8 million with the Twins’ rivals, who are undergoing a mini-rebuild following the departures of Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrasco, and Corey Kluber, following on from Trevor Bauer’s exit last season.
During his time with the Twins, Rosario proved himself to be a power hitter, and while his average was always decent, his proclivity to swing meant his on-base percentage was not.
His most prolific season for the Twins came in 2019, when he homered 35 times and drove in 109 runs with a .276 average.
He burst onto the scene in 2015 when he famously homered in his first at-bat, off the A’s Scott Kazmir at Target Field, with his family watching.
