Any follower of the NBA knows that new Timberwolves coach and president Thibodeau preaches defense. Every team he has coached has improved on the defensive side of the court and the numbers back that up.
The Timberwolves have historically been awful defensively and last season Minnesota ranked third-worst in defensive efficiency.
Local and national media have wasted no time addressing what Minnesota has done well and what they can improve on.
Wiggins and Towns
Thibodeau sat down with the Star Tribune’s Jerry Zgoda and gave his two-cents on what he has seen from afar. Despite success early on from the two, he knows that Wiggins and Towns still have more to their game.
What’s the plan with Rubio?
Ricky Rubio was dangled at the trade deadline last season. Tom Zeller of SB Nation thinks Ricky Rubio is a similar player to what Thibodeau had as an assistant coach in Boston with Rajon Rondo.
Excitement
Britt Robson of Minnpost adds that whatever the Wolves plan to do this off season and moving forward, it will not be boring. Thibodeau has the pieces in place to provide fans with an exciting team.
Luol Deng reunion?
Current Miami Heat and former Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng is a big fan of Thibodeau. While in Chicago, he felt that the firing of Thibodeau last year was a bad deal. Deng is a free agent this summer, so could he reunite with his former coach?
Deng, a FA this summer, still speaks highly of Thibs from their time together in Chicago. Questioned the firing. https://t.co/zgsXvHzAHR

The drama will only rise when the Draft Lottery is held May 17 and the Wolves find out which elite pick they’ll get in the June Draft.
