Dylan Bundy made an impressive debut as the Minnesota Twins split their season-opening series against the Seattle Mariners with a 4-0 win on Monday night.
Bundy was one of the key storylines on the night after he signed a one-year deal with the Twins last January. The right-hander looked solid allowing one hit, one walk while striking out two in five scoreless innings.
While Bundy did his job on the mound, the Twins did theirs at the plate. One day after slugging six home runs in Sunday’s win over the Mariners, the Twins used a small-ball approach to get to Chris Flexen.
Jorge Polanco doubled in the bottom of the first to drive in Byron Buxton for the first run of the game. But it was a Buxton double in the bottom of the fifth that set off a three-run rally.
With RBI singles from Luis Arraez, Polanco and Gio Urshella, the Twins had all the offense they would need.

The Twins bullpen had a fantastic night, using three shutout innings from Caleb Thielbar, Tyler Duffey and Joe Smith to get to the ninth. That set the stage for Jhoan Duran, whose fastball averaged 100.8 mph during a 1-2-3 inning.
The Twins (2-2) will open a two-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Chris Archer will make his Minnesota debut in the opener against Andrew Heaney.
