The Minnesota Vikings brought in the son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter for a workout Friday and – judging from comments Duron Carter made to the Star Tribune – the young receiver was impressed with Minnesota.
“It went really well,” Duron Carter told the newspaper. “I met everybody and it looked really good. I like Minnesota, I like the facilities, I like the coaches and everything. It seems like things are looking up. I would say Minnesota is probably my front-runner right now.”
Carter has worked out for the Vikings before, during a 2013 rookie minicamp. But chose to sign with the Canadian Football League rather than go through training camp with the Vikings.
The prospect of Duron Carter joining the Vikings has his father excited, as evidenced by his tweet.

Duron Carter sparked some interest from NFL teams after an outstanding season with the Montreal Alouettes. He caught 75 passes for 1,030 yards and 7 touchdowns.
“Every NFL team should be after Cris Carter’s son,” Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said last June to NFL.com. “Duron Carter is a phenomenal athlete. He’s got every measurable. He’s fast, 6-foot-4, can be a punt returner in the NFL with his size, can run with the ball, has got tremendous body control. … He’ll be a highly, highly sought after, Cam Wake kind of guy.”
He has already worked out for Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Kansas City. Carter told the Star Tribune that he plans continue his tour of NFL teams with visits to Cleveland, Carolina, San Francisco and Washington.
“It was kind of incomparable to other places I’ve been so far,” Carter told the newspaper. “I was running around that facility when I was a kid. Going back and see some of the same people still there, it was kind of like a homecoming.”
Carter can’t sign with a team until Feb. 10, but could agree to a deal before then.
