Twins second baseman Brian Dozier put up big numbers in 2016 but it wasn’t enough to crack the top 10 in the American League Most Valuable Player voting.

Dozier finished ahead of such names as Edwin Encarnacion, Justin Verlander and Corey Kluber.
The 29-year-old Dozier hit 42 home runs in 2016 while putting together a monster stretch in the second half. He set an American League record for home runs in a season by a second baseman.
He became the first Twin since Harmon Killebrew to hit 40 home runs in a single season.
It’s actually the second year in a row that Dozier was on the MVP ballot. Because of his impressive play, Dozier has been subjected to trade rumors this offseason.
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout took home the award for the second time in his career and Kris Bryant was named MVP in the National League.
