The Vikings are going into Sunday’s home game against the Houston Texans likely down two more key starters.
Stefon Diggs is listed as doubtful with a groin injury and right tackle Andre Smith is officially out with an injury and he’ll be re-evaluated next week.
Diggs being doubtful means there’s a 25 percent chance he’ll play and head coach Mike Zimmer thinks Diggs will be a game-time decision, according to Daily Norseman.
With Diggs doubtful, the Vikings will have to turn to Charles Johnson, Adam Thielen, Cordarrelle Patterson and maybe even first-round rookie receiver Laquon Treadwell.
Johnson has just three catches on 10 targets this season so it could be a great opportunity for Patterson and Thielen to continue to shine. Patterson was on the field for 36 snaps in Minnesota’s win over New York on Monday night, and he finished with 5 receptions for 38 yards while proving to be a versatile presence on the field.
Treadwell has yet to play this season.
