The Twins can do something today they haven’t done all year: sweep a 3-game series.
They won four straight against the Brewers in May, but two wins came at Miller Park — followed up by two wins at Target Field.
To get that first three-game sweep, Minnesota will have to finish off Chicago in a matinee today at Target Field, capping off a nine-game homestand.
A win would also put the Twins at 33-36, just three games under the .500 mark. They haven’t been this close to .500 this late in a season since 2010.
Scott Diamond (4-6, 5.29 ERA) starts for Minnesota. He’s coming off a loss to Detroit last Friday when he gave up four runs in the sixth inning after cruising through five.
Fellow lefty John Danks (1-3, 4.50) starts for the White Sox, who are now entrenched in last place in the A.L. Central, three and a half games behind the 4th-place Twins.
As for today’s Twins lineup, Pedro Florimon gets the day off. Eduardo Escobar will play shortstop instead:
