The Timberwolves and DraftKings released a 60-second Derrick Rose video that will give fans chills, make the hair on their arms rise and generate another level of excitement for Minnesota basketball.
Rose delivers a methodical message in the video, saying:
“My whole life, all I had was my family, a ball, and a dream. And I’m thankful for all this game has given me. Fame. Fortune. Stardom. Greatness. Even defeat, because every loss is a lesson and every lesson is a blessing. I’ve had many blessings.
But now I’m healthy, focused, ready to give all myself to this game, for my team, for my family, and for every fan who’s ever supported me.
I’m D-Rose, and I’m whole again.”
The words alone do it justice, but the video brings it over the top.
Rose has had a resurgent season with the Wolves and is likely running away with the race for NBA Sixth Man of the Year and potentially the Comeback Player of the Year award.
The 30-year-old point guard is averaging 18.3 points – his most since 2010-2011 when he was named NBA MVP – in 29.3 minutes off the bench while shooting 50 percent from the floor and a blistering 47.5 percent from 3-point range, by far the best in his career.
An ACL injury derailed his career just 39 games into the 2011-12 season and multiple meniscus injuries afterward kept him down, but he’s healthy again and his quickness and explosiveness has been on display all season with the Wolves.
Rose and the Wolves are 9-3 since trading Jimmy Butler on Nov. 10, and they can really make a statement if they win on the road against Portland on Saturday and at Golden State on Monday.
