An elbow injury has sidelined Derrick Rose for the rest of the NBA season and on Saturday the Timberwolves announced that the veteran point guard underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow.
“Rose will be sidelined indefinitely and further updates to his progress will be issued when available,” the team announced, noting that the operation was successful.
Rose missed 16 games earlier this season due to injuries but otherwise played quite well, averaging 18.0 points on 48.2 percent shooting, including a career-best 37.0 percent on 3-pointers.
The 30 year old is an unrestricted free agent after the season and the team hasn’t said one way or another if they’d like to bring him back.
Jeff Teague (ankle) and Robert Covington (knee) have also been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The Wolves have 10 games left in the season and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
