Noah Shannon, a 3-star defensive tackle out of Oswego, Illinois, tweeted Sunday that he’s de-committing from Minnesota.
Shannon committed to the Gophers on May 8 but the 2018 graduate has reopened his recruiting process. However, he did acknowledge that Minnesota still remains “a top school for me.”
He’s rated the ninth-best prospect in the state of Illinois and is the 42nd-best defensive tack in the nation, according to 247 Sports.Land of 10 notes that Shannon has official scholarship offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa State, Arkansas and Missouri.
Even with Minnesota possibly losing a top recruit, P.J. Fleck has assembled one of the best recruiting classes for the Gophers in recent years. Currently, Minnesota has the 17th-best class in the nation and the sixth best in the Big Ten.
